Advocacy in Action

Molly Lukason, MSW, LICSW, C-ASWCM, NHA

Molly has worked with older adults and families for more than 30 years in the Metro West and Boston areas. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and has earned advanced designations within her field.

Early in her career as a social worker, Molly recognized that every individual has a unique way of coping. She maintains a core belief that each client deserves advocacy, respect, and compassion. As a licensed nursing home administrator, Molly has also demonstrated advocacy in action on a larger scale, exemplifying how respect and dignity are vital to all individuals in any setting they call home.

In 1992, Molly worked with an extraordinary team to open the first freestanding assisted living facility in Massachusetts where she served as the Executive Director for six years. “Understanding nursing home and assisted living management from behind the scenes has afforded me opportunities to change management’s perspective,” Molly says. “Compassion and patience are key not only to resolving concerns but also to gaining trust and forging relationships for a lifetime.”

While serving as Executive Director at the assisted living facility, Molly again teamed with management to open the first adult day health program and the first group adult foster care program in an assisted living facility. Ever responsive to the need for targeted services, Molly assisted in establishing the first program for older adults with mental illness in an assisted living facility. Following that success, Molly served as Vice President of a local home care company and continued her advocacy for older adults with mental illness by creating a second assisted living program for the mentally ill. In 2006, Molly founded Milestones Unlimited, P.C., a specialized resource providing therapeutic counseling and geriatric care management for older adults and families, where she serves as president.

Molly is trained in Clinical Therapy with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy via her training at Boston University. Utilizing this training, Molly established a unique home-based cognitive behavioral health program for one of the largest Visiting Nurses Associations in Massachusetts.

A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with extensive management and regulation experience, Molly has helped individual clients and organizations gain new ground in independence, advocacy, and quality. As a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager, member of the West Suburban Advisory Board, Massachusetts Advisory Board of the Department of Mental Health, Aging Life Care Association, and National Association of Social Workers, she continues to advocate for those needing assistance with services as well as for those who simply want their voices heard.

Molly’s vast experience wholly reflects her mission: to serve older adults and their families in all ways with advocacy, respect, and compassion.
